We begin the year with our fall musical production. Recent performances include: Peter Pan, You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, and The Wizard of Oz. All students are encouraged to take part in this all-division presentation. The lead roles are selected after an audition process. We understand that not all students want to be on stage; their energies are directed to work on props, lights, publicity, and scenery. This event truly brings the entire community together and is one of the most anticipated events for the Middle School.

Our music program offers five performing groups: band, chorus, guitar, African ensemble, and orchestra. Students choosing band, guitar, or strings are expected to continue with private lessons so that each ensemble progresses to the next level. Some students also participate in jazz band, an afternoon activity. Each December and May, students perform at a concert for family and peers.

Each student arrives as an artist, bringing a different level of experience and interests. Students strengthen their understanding of art and principles of design through a variety of mediums and study of the masters. In many cases, art lessons are incorporated into the curriculum in classes like humanities where students learn about the African culture and its villages. Students demonstrate their artistic interpretations of the lesson by creating African masks in their art class.
