Berwick Academy is located in the town of South Berwick, Maine. The School is in close proximity to popular Seacoast locations including Portsmouth, NH, Kittery, ME, the Kennebunks, and York, ME. The ocean, mountains, and local cities like Boston and Portland are an hour or less from our School.

  • Coaching: Assistant Crew Coach

    Berwick Academy seeks a qualified assistant coach(es) for its Upper School spring Crew program. We are looking for passionate, energetic, and dedicated individuals to coach the team’s 30+/- dedicated and driven male & female athletes, from novice to experienced high school rowers.
    Job requirements include:
    · Bachelor's Degree
    · Compliance with all procedures and policies of crew facilities and US Rowing
    · Prior rowing experience
    · Prior coaching experience, specifically in club or school level
    · Ability to organize and administer training plan and to direct practices
    · Required attendance at practice and races
    · Exceptional communication and motivational skills
    · Ability to establish positive relationships with our student-athletes, parents and school administration
    · Excellent time management skills
    · Excellent personal character

    ● Coordinate with Gunstock Coaches in training sessions.

    ● Supervise team members individually and in groups.

    ● Develop and implement game strategy and position assignments.

    ● Coordinate the strength and conditioning programs for student athletes with our  strength coaches.

    ● Ensure adherence to all NEPSAC & CMSL rules and regulations/policies.

    ● Be a mentor, both in skiing and life.

    ● Build positive relationships with all members of the Berwick Academy community, including students, faculty, administration, parents and alumni.

    ● Build a program that's goal is to give our students an experience that they will take with them for the rest of their lives.

    Job Description:
    The Varsity Field Hockey Head Coach at Berwick Academy is responsible for planning and conditioning, training, and performance of our student athletes for the Varsity Field Hockey program. 

    This position reports to the Director of Athletics. This Head Coach will be responsible and in adherence with the policies, rules, and regulations of the New England Preparatory Athletic Council (NEPSAC) and Eastern Independent League.

    Berwick seeks an experienced Varsity Field Hockey Head Coach to become part of our community.

    This is a part-time seasonal position, with some off-season responsibilities including meetings, program development, and admissions-related events throughout the year.

    The Head Coach is responsible for leading a competitive, development-focused field hockey program that aligns with Berwick's new afternoon programming.

    Berwick is looking for someone who will mentor our student-athletes and create a positive team culture. This coach will plan and lead practices, use film as a coaching tool and actively recruit prospective candidates. This position requires excellent communication with parents and students of the program.

    Requirements
    Experienced Club and High School Field Hockey coach preferred.

    Berwick Academy, a PK-12 coeducational day school located in Southern Maine, seeks an Interim Lower School Librarian. Ideal candidates would have experience working with elementary school aged students ranging in age from three to nine years old. 

    A qualified candidate will hold a library science degree as well as library experience and will  demonstrate a keen understanding of the developmental needs of a range of students.   • Teaching Apprentices

    Berwick Academy's Teaching Apprentice Program (TAP) offers a purposeful blend of hands-on teaching experiences and graduate courses, resulting in a M.Ed. from Lesley University. Each TA works full time under the guidance of experienced Berwick mentors for an entire academic year while taking Lesley courses. Our apprentices develop the knowledge and skills essential for successful teaching while earning legitimate work experience at one of New England’s finest independent schools. The program will begin in June, and is open to aspiring educators.

    • Middle School (Grades 5 - 8)  - Sections in Humanities, Math, English, History, Science, Art, Spanish
