When Berwick athletes wear our colors, they realize they are part of something special. They are representing not only themselves and their teammates, but those who have participated in our rich history of over 200 years.

Athletics are a ‘real life’ setting for the practice of competition, cooperation, and adaptability. Berwick athletes compete against opponents; work effectively within the team; and perform in continuously changing environments. Berwick Academy athletics offer students the opportunity to be on highly successful varsity teams and to receive coaching that will develop their skills to the fullest.

1. Quality: Every athlete, team, and coach will develop talents to the fullest, and compete to the best of their ability.

Upper School athletics afford an opportunity for every student to participate while providing a highly competitive experience for those who may choose to pursue athletics in college. The athletic requirement is one component of the overall afternoon requirement. Students in the US are required to participate in an afternoon activity in two of the three seasons. All Upper School students must participate in a minimum of one athletic team, but they are encouraged to pursue as many as three seasons of athletics.

Berwick Academy competes in the Eastern Independent League (EIL). The Eastern Independent League (EIL) is composed of twelve New England preparatory schools that compete athletically and academically. The EIL's twelve members compete in a number of sports in the New England Prep School Athletic Conference (NEPSAC).
