Seth A. Hurd is a native of Maine and resides in Acton.  Mr. Hurd is an alumnus of the Academy, graduating in 1990.  Following graduation he earned a degree in Music Education with emphases in Organ and Conducting at the University of New Hampshire.  He returned to the University of Phoenix for a graduate business degree in Organizational Management.  After his graduate degree he pursued a career in finance spanning private industry, public education, municipal government and now private school administration after returning to campus in April 2001.

Mr. Hurd has worked in a number of non-profit arenas and has held positions on the local school board, finance committees, and on the board of the Old Berwick Historical Society.

Mr. Hurd is also no stranger to education, having taught 7th and 8th grade general music at the Academy in the mid 1990's as well as chorus and general music in the Sanford School Department's Adult Education and Alternative Education Program from 1993 - 1998.  His return to Berwick has found him not only directing the music in the Musicals and coaching students in music but on occasion co-teaching Art of Listening.

He also has a passion for the arts and is a member of the Arts Faculty at the Academy as the Music Director for the school's annual spring musical production.  He is the Director of Music at the North Parish Congregational Church in Sanford, the past Director of the Sanford Community Chorus and served as the Director of the Seaglass Chorale of Seaglass Performing Arts from 2005 to 2007.  He is a member of the American Choral Directors Association and is the Placement Coordinator for the Portland, ME chapter of the American Guild of Organists.

Mr. Hurd is also a Notary Public and Dedimus Justice and welcomes any member of the Berwick Community to stop in if you are in need of those services.
