Tuition and Financial Aid
Berwick Academy is committed to doing all within its means to provide financial aid to make the Berwick experience affordable and accessible to students. We recognize and respect the significant personal and financial sacrifices families make to ensure their children have an outstanding education. Financial need should never discourage a student from applying for admission.

Financial aid at Berwick Academy is entirely need based: awards are made solely on the family's ability to pay. We do not offer merit or athletic scholarships. Financial aid is available to students in Kindergarten through 12th grade.

Tuition Information

Financial aid award dollars are made in the form of direct grants to families. Grants are applied directly to the student's tuition and do not require repayment. Families are assured that they will continue to receive the same proportion of aid unless their economic status changes. Returning families must re-apply for financial aid each year. All financial aid information and awards are kept confidential.

Berwick is a member of the School and Student Service (SSS) for Financial Aid which assists schools by compiling much of the data necessary for making financial aid decisions. SSS analyzes the information you provide to them on your Personal Financial Statement (PFS) and calculates an estimate of what your contribution to educational expenses may be. Berwick Academy uses this calculation as a tool along with your financial documents, such as tax returns and W2’s, to determine your financial aid award.

New Students - Please note on your Admission application that you will be applying for financial aid. If this box is not marked on your application, we will assume that you will not be requesting financial aid and we cannot guarantee available funds after an admission decision is made.

As early as November 1, complete a Personal Financial Statement online at sss.nais.org. This form must be completed by December 30 for Returning students and January 10 for New students.

*Once your PFS is complete, please remit the following documents to SSS with your cover sheet:
  • 2011 W2’s
  • Signed copies of your 2011 Tax Return and all supporting schedules. If your 2011 return is not complete, you can remit a copy of your 2010 and once completed remit the 2011 return. Please note that all awards are conditional upon our review of the 2011 return.
  • Business/Farm Owners must file a Business/Farm Statement on the SSS website and remit your business return to SSS.
  • Divorced or Separated Parents must each file individual Personal Financial Statements and remit your tax returns.
Please send all tax documents to:
School & Student Services by NAIS
P.O. Box 449
Randolph, MA 02368-0449

If you are unable to apply online, please call our Office of Admission for a paper copy of the application. If the fee for filing your SSS poses a hardship to your family, please call our Office of Admission to request a fee waiver.
Financial Aid decisions are mailed to new students with their admission decisions and to returning students in January with their enrollment contracts.

Late Applications for Financial Aid: Families who have initiated the application process too late to allow them to comply with the deadlines above are encouraged to proceed. However, the financial resources cannot be guaranteed, and amounts of grants awarded at this time may be limited.
