Yes, I am Emmeline Larcom. I was born in Beverly, Massachusetts. I was one of ten children. My father was a sea captain. Later I became the secretary of the Lowell Offering. My favorite sister was Lucy Larcom. She was a mill girl here. My mother was our room keeper but after working awhile she decided her place was back home in Beverly, so she moved back. Every week I send a letter with a dollar, and Lucy does the same.
