I was born in Epson, New Hampshire in 1824 and began teaching in the towns of Epson and Pittsfield. My mother died when I was teaching and my father was very sick. I moved to Lowell to work in the Middlesex mills. I started in 1843. I started during a strike. I worked in the mills for 2 years before I quit and went back to teaching. I left the mills in 1845. I got marred to Alexander Forbus in 1859. My husband and I hated slavery but were afraid to speak out against it. In 1895 my husband and I began to travel. We stopped when I got sick.
