Dear Journal,

I’ve been at St. Ann’s church for 18 years. It’s Saturday and I’m thinking what my sermon should be. Mr. Boott works the workers very hard. The Lowell girls work 12-14 hours a day. Some say girls are treated like slaves. They talk about making the workdays shorter to 10 hours. I imagine after Sunday’s service is over many will come to me and ask me, "How can we stay strong through the long days, and the constant noise?" I will tell them that God is watching us, and protecting us and leading us in the right direction.

WHO AM I???

Theodore Edson- a priest

William Scholler- a writer

Elizabeth Lovejoy-a millworker
