NY Times Bestselling Author, Jessica Lahey Parent Event

Join us at Berwick Academy on October 24 as we welcome New York Times bestselling author Jessica Lahey to the Hilltop, where she will present on her book, The Gift of Failure: How the Best Parents Learn to Let Go So Their Children Can Succeed. The parent event, which will begin at 7 p.m. and be held in the Arts Center Theater, will include a keynote address, question and answer session, and book signing.

What's the best way to motivate students to own their education, learn deeply and durably, and develop resilience? Research has shown that the key to all these things is intrinsic motivation, or motivation that comes from within. Jessica Lahey summarizes the current research on autonomy-supportive parenting and teaching, competence, rewards, praise, and failure. Finally, she explains how parents and educators can give students the support and encouragement they need in order to stay motivated over the long term.

We encourage all attendees to read this book in advance of the event. For additional information about The Gift of Failure, please visit www.jessicalahey.com.
