Visual ArtsParticipation in the Upper School arts enables students to explore, take risks, refine creative abilities, and develop potential. Through a progression based on techniques aesthetics and history, students build a diverse and rich sensory language while developing intuition, reasoning, and imagination into unique forms of self-expression and communication.
Music
Many course offerings in the Upper School provide rich opportunities for participation in music an a variety of ways. These courses include:
- Art of Listening and Music Theory
- Chorus, Audition Preparation, Academy Street Singers
- Jazz Ensemble, Chamber Music
- African Music, Composition and Song Writing
Theater and Dance
Upper School produces a dramatic play and a musical performance each year. Participation by interested students takes place both on and off the stage. The Berwick Academy Dance Program offers numerous classes for Upper School students of all dance abilities, and culminates in a yearly dance performance in the spring.
