The Physical Education and Athletic Program exists to promote sound physical growth and development, social skills, emotional maturity, ethical practices, a sense of community, and physical achievement. It teaches physical skills, imparts knowledge, develops physical fitness, and provides a cooperative and competitive learning experience for all students. The program nurtures a joy and confidence in moving and a healthy competitive attitude. Students are encouraged and prepared to participate and benefit from a lifetime of physical activity and to transfer the ethical and social lessons and values learned in sport to their daily life."
Berwick Academy is a member of the New England Preparatory School Athletic Conference and competes in The Eastern Independent League at the upper school
level. The school fields teams in soccer, cross country, golf, hockey, swimming, skiing, basketball, lacrosse, baseball, softball and tennis. The coaching staff is truly outstanding. It is made up of teachers who know and understand their players, know their sports, and appropriate for level coaching. A full time Certified Athletic Trainer provides medical care to our athletes.
The Academy is proud of its competitiveness, its League and New England titles, its tournament bids, its all-stars and college players, but it measures the success of the program more by the personal growth of its athletes. Athletics at Berwick Academy is kept in perspective with the Academy educational mission. Various level teams offered in many sports provide all students and opportunity to gro, learn and achieve through athletic participation.
