When students invent, they take ownership of an idea. Middle School is an important time for students to embrace the design process to creatively explore ideas and solve challenging, yet fun, problems.  This process allows students to experience rigor, risk, and reward along with the challenge of being creative and solving problems in a collaborative environment.  The Middle School Makerspace at Berwick Academy offers students the opportunity to explore their passion, solve real world problems and engage with curriculum through hands on projects.  Maker education lends itself to authentic learning experiences that students are invested in and excited about. The maker experience offers students to see concepts in action along with opportunities for cross-curricular connections.  We are excited to offer a wide range of consumables, digital fabrication tools along with circuitry and programming kits.
“I believe that students will invent, they will collaborate, and they will persevere when they are empowered to follow their interests. For me, the Makerspace is a judgement free zone where students are able to act on their own curiosity and experiment playfully; thus encouraging the pursuit and application of useful knowledge.”
