5th Grade  Humanities
The overarching theme to the Humanities Curriculum in 5th grade is “Let’s Embark on a Journey of Discovery!” Interconnected themes in the English and History curriculums will weave together throughout the year.  Delving into literature and engaging in a variety of writing projects will fuel an introspective self-discovery of each student as a unique individual. Simultaneously, students will use the lens of multiple perspectives to explore key movements in history that created the foundation of our country throughout the 1800s.  Students will be directed not on whatto think, but rather on how to think critically as we navigate through the curriculum together!  Students will be encouraged to ask questions, be curious and wonder. Overall, the goal is to cultivate lifelong, curious learners who can think, reason, analyze, communicate and collaborate.

5th Grade Math
The fifth grade mathematics program first focuses on the review and mastery of basic math skills and then explores the role of mathematics in our daily lives, the use of problem solving strategies, and the realms of abstract thinking.

5th Grade Science
In 5th grade science, students investigate environmental science, weather, forces and motion, and chemistry; with particular emphasis on lower-middle school transition, stewardship, collaboration, and the continued development of a student’s ability to learn from feedback.
