"As a kinetic learner, I appreciate the hands on learning opportunities the new Inspiration Commons provides. Now students will be able to learn by 3D printing or laser cutting an object to help prove the theory or idea being taught in class." - Sarah '17

Inspiration Commons

Inspiration Commons is intended to provide a collaborative learning space where the community can gather, share, create, innovate, and most importantly inspire each other.

The Hub is the central gathering space intended for brainstorming, collaborating, and exhibiting work.

The Digital Design Classroom provides Adobe software and Mac computers used for modeling, composing, and editing music, film, photography, and visual art.

The Fabrication Studio is a lab where designs come to life. As part of a class or during free time, students have access to 3D printers, a CNC router, laser cutter, sewing machine, and hand tools.

Inspiration Commons is the newest addition to our growing Berwick Innovation Center. Established in 2009, BIC has evolved into a program that encompasses all aspects of innovation on our campus. Elements of BIC include our flagship Innovation Pursuit (IP) program, the Middle School MakerspaceLower School Innovation Jr., and now Inspiration Commons. Students from PK through grade 12 will have access to the new space, which embraces the interdisciplinary and student-driven philosophy of Curriculum 2020

The Inspiration Commons at Berwick Academy’s Jackson Library is dedicated to all past, present, and future faculty and staff for their tireless efforts to vitalize and inspire the growth of this school.  This space, its design classroom, fabrication studio and gathering/collaborative areas, is intended to serve as a continued source of inspiration for all members of the Berwick community in their efforts to apply knowledge usefully and solve problems creatively.
