Marti Mulhern

I have had the pleasure of being a Lower School literacy since 2011.  I teach small groups of first through fourth-graders and also privately tutor students up through middle school.  I graduated twice from the University of New Hampshire in Durham with a B.A. in Psychology and a M.Ed. in Reading.  I am a NH certified reading specialist.

I met teaching colleague Liz Dowd while in graduate school; many common influences have helped shaped our teaching philosophies, which in turn has helped us create a cohesive literacy program.  I first worked in education over twenty-five years ago but then explored several other fields (and raised three boys), before finding my way back to teaching. Some favorite jobs were: aerobics instructor, wedding coordinator, title examiner and a women’s clothing representative. I incorporate diverse experiences into my teaching along with my belief that you should continue to challenge and educate yourself throughout life. I have worked in public schools before finding my “home” at Berwick Academy in 2011. I live in New Hampshire with my husband and sons and my interests are as varied as the books piled on my nightstand. I am passionate about fitness, nutrition, the mind-body connection, traveling, cooking, home renovating and of course, reading!
