Design Engineering in Lower School Science

In second, third, and fourth grade science, students follow a design engineering process to research, identify, design, make, and test a solution to real-world problems.  Second graders focus in general on problems people face, third graders think about the interaction between people and animals, and fourth graders contemplate natural disasters.  Their solutions include a Hummingbird DUO circuit board which involves LEDs, motors, and sensors that are set into action through coding.  When combined with craft materials and recyclable items, these solutions really come to life.
