Jackson Sidford nets two to lead Berwick past NYA 6-3

YARMOUTH, ME –With the game in his hometown, it was only fitting that sophomore Alex Ramsay get the start, especially after shutting NYA out at the Brooks-Pingree tournament. Ramsay did not have his A-game tonight, but his B+ game was still enough for 33 saves in this offensive battle. Connor Derby (Newburyport, MA) got the Bulldogs on the board three minutes into the first with a heat-seaking missile from the blueline that went off the crossbar and in. Just a minute later, Jackson Sidford (Newburyport, MA) beat a NYA defenser wide and cashed in from a tight angle.

 

Freshman Paddy Condon (South Berwick, ME) scored his first career goal on a rebound from a Connor Derby point shot halfway through the second. NYA responded with a goal of their own two minutes later to keep it 3-1 going into the break. Both teams traded goals in the third, with Sidford scoring on a 5-on-4 advantage and Tyler Gaulin (Kingston, NH) scoring his eighth of the year. Look for these two horses to go neck-and-neck the rest of the way. Sidford has led the Bulldogs in points each of the last two seasons but Gaulin might have something to say about that, currently two points ahead of Sidford. Zander Lizotte’s (Scarborough, ME) empty netter sealed this one.
