Too little, too late for Bulldogs

Middlesex counter-attack punishes Berwick mistakes
CONCORD, MA -The Bulldogs played a tremendous third period in this one, but the hole they dug early on was a little too big. Berwick again handed their opponent multiple odd-man rushes, as they cashed in on three of their first four and added a powerplay tally before the end of the second period. Something clicked in the third for the Bulldogs as Tyler Gaulin (Kingston, NH) scored a highlight-reel goal halfway through the period. Chris Dowd (Danville, NH), scored just five minutes later on powerplay feeds from Cole Hernon (Hampton, NH) and Gaulin. The Bulldogs pulled their goalie with four minutes remaining but could not mount any sustained zone time before surrendering the fifth and final empty net goal. Crosby Smith (South Berwick, ME) played strong in relief, turning aside all fourteen shots he faced. The Bulldogs are back in action in less than 24 hours as they welcome Portsmouth Abbey north for the home opener tomorrow at 4 p.m.
