First Road Trip for Bulldogs

The Bulldogs started the 2021 season with a long road trip to Gould Academy.  The game ended in a 0-0 tie and the Bulldogs held a 7-4 advantage in shots on goal and a 3-1 advantage on corners. Cam Hamilton (South Berwick, ME) and Louise Roper (Kennebunkport, ME) combined for 4 saves and the shutout.

The Bulldogs started off a bit frantic after a short warmup with few chances created in the first half.  In the 5th minute Grace Libby (Standish, ME) flicked the ball through for Sophia Whitney (Hampton, NH) whose shot went just wide of the left post.  In the 35th minute Chili Dowd (Amesbury, MA) got behind the defense on a breakaway but the shot was just wide.

The Bulldogs came out with more energy in the second half but still struggled to create chances.  In the 52nd and 60th minute Louise Roper (Kennebunkport, ME) made key saves to keep the game scoreless.  In the last 20 minutes the Bulldogs started to create more chances and earned a few free kicks in the offensive third but could not capitalize.  Lily Pleau (Hampton Falls, NH) had a header from a Sophia Whitney (Hampton, NH) throw go just wide and later had a free kick go just over the bar.  Pleau also had a great cross from the right flank that the keeper saved and Phoebe Clark (Hampton, NH) put the rebound just wide.  Grace Libby (Standish, ME) broke through the Gould defense and created a great chance, but the keeper made the save.  In the closing minutes, Sophia Whitney (Hampton, NH) made a great run but was narrowly ruled offsides after a great build up from Pleau and Reese Murphy (Stratham, NH).

The Bulldogs are now 0-0-1 on the season and will play Hebron Academy in their home opener on Saturday 9/11.  Go Bulldogs!
