WIN at Winsor

The Berwick Bulldogs came away with a 2-0 win in their rescheduled EIL match against Winsor in downtown Boston on Monday afternoon.  While playing on a narrower field than they are accustomed to, the Bulldogs did well defensively and offensively despite a slow start where Winsor forced the Bulldogs into their own half for most of the opening 10 minutes.  After getting settled and getting on the attack the Bulldogs had a handful of chances from distance or shots go just wide or over the bar.  It wasn't until the 32nd minute that they found the back of the net when Grace Libby (Standish, ME) played a great ball to Sophia Whitney (Hampton, NH) for the breakaway who put it past the Winsor keeper for the 1-0 advantage
The second goal came a few minutes later before halftime when Chili Dowd (Amesbury, MA) crossed to Grace Libby (Standish, ME) who then layed it off to Reese Murphy (Stratham, NH) who roofed it for the 2-0 advantage going into halftime.

In the second half, the Bulldogs held their own and distinguished themselves with some beautiful passes. With 18 minutes left in the game, Sophia Whitney (Hampton, NH) passed to Grace Libby (Standish, ME), who set up Reese Murphy (Stratham, NH) for a nice shot, but the Winsor goalie made a diving save. A minute later, the Winsor goalie made a point blank save when Kara Borkowski (Wells, ME) crossed it to Grace Libby (Standish, ME).  The Bulldogs couldn't get another goal and Winsor mounted some dangerous attacks in the closing minutes of the game.  In the end Berwick's defensive line was up to the task and earned their 5th shutout of the season and improved to 4-0-1 overall, while Winsor falls to 1-2-1 on the season.
