Bulldogs Win on Blue & White Weekend

The Bulldogs came away with their third EIL win and sixth win overall to improve to 6-0-1 on Blue and a White Weekend in front of a big crowd of Bulldog supporters while Beaver falls to 2-3-1.

The best chance to score in the opening frame came from Beaver in the 16th minute when they earned a free kick from 30 yards out and hit the crossbar.  In the 21st minute the Bulldogs had their best chance to score off a great corner kick where Chili Dowd’s (Amesbury, MA) shot deflected and Phoebe Clark (Hampton, NH) scored, but the goal was called back for offsides. The Bulldogs had their share of chances in the opening half, but couldn’t get on the scoreboard and went into the halftime break tied 0-0.

The Bulldogs came out strong in the second half with a great bit of possession and quality chance right away, but didn't capitalize.  Then in the 47th minute Charlotte Vatcher (Kennebunk, ME) hit a great cross to Grace Libby (Standish, ME) whose header to the lower right corner was amazingly saved by the Beaver keeper.  Moments later a furry in the box resulted in a shot just wide from Charlotte Vatcher (Kennebunk, ME).  In the 50th minute Chili Dowd (Amesbury, MA) made a great run down the right flank and crossed to Sophia Whitney (Hampton, NH) but the shot was just wide.  It seemed like the Bulldogs just couldn’t get on the board.  In the 71st minute Sophia Whitney (Hampton, NH) flew down the left side after a pass from Grace Libby (Standish, ME) then beat her defender and with authority rifled a left footed shot to the top right corner off the post and in for the 1-0 advantage.  BOOM!  With 5 minutes to go Beaver earned another free kick and had a good cross to the back post, but thankfully no one got on the end of it.  The Bulldogs pulled off the 1-0 victory.

The Bulldogs will play their fourth EIL matchup of the season when they host Dana Hall School on 10/6.  Go Bulldogs!
