Bulldogs Remain Undefeated

The Bulldogs traveled to Newton Country Day School and despite holding a 5-3 shot advantage and having many shots wide, the Bulldogs could not capitalize and finished with a 0-0 tie on the road.

The Bulldogs started a bit slow after a long bus ride and many days without a game.  In the 21st minute Lily Pleau (Hampton Falls, NH) played a great cross to Ginger Friedman (North Hampton, NH) who almost got on the end of it at the back post for the Bulldogs best chance to score in the opening half.  In the 23rd minute NCDS had a similar chance to score but the ball went just over the goal.

The Bulldogs came out stronger in the second half.  In the 53rd minute Phoebe Clark (Hampton, NH) made a great run to the top of the 18 of a throw from Sophia Whitney (Hampton, NH) but her shot was just wide.  In the 57th minute Reese Murphy (Stratham, NH) played a great ball to Sophia Whitney who blasted a shot but the NCDS keeper made the save.  In the 59th minute Ginger Friedman broke through with her pace on a breakaway and her shot was just wide.  In the 63rd minute Chili Dowd (Amesbury, MA) played a beautiful pass to Lily Pleau whose shot was just wide.  In the 75th minute Pleau set up Grace Libby (Standish, ME) whose shot went just over.   In the 76th Pleau had a shot of her own just wide.

The Bulldogs could not capitalize on their chances, but had another solid defensive performance.  Louise Roper (Kennebunkport, ME) and the Berwick defense did well to earn their 9th shutout of the season.  Eliza Small (Portsmouth, NH) and Jessica Wojdak (West Newbury, MA) were solid as outside backs.  Charlotte Vatcher (Kennebunk, ME) was amazing at center back. Last but certainly not least Lily Balfour (Exeter, NH) was amazing shutting down Newton’s most dangerous player and leading scorer Abi Hennessey (Newton, MA).

The Bulldogs remain undefeated at 7-0-2 while Newton Coutry Day is 4-1-2.  The Bulldogs will travel to Pingree School on Wednesday 10/20 for another EIL matchup between two teams that are both undefeated in the EIL.
