Big Win on the Road

The Bulldogs traveled to Proctor Academy for a non-league NEPSAC class C game and were determined to get back on track and come home with a win.

The Bulldogs were strong in the opening 10 minutes and got on the board in the 8th minute when Chili Dowd (Amesbury, MA) beat multiple defenders on the left side and then beat the goalie at the near post for the 1-0 lead.  In the 28th minute, Louise Roper (Kennebunkport, ME) made a great diving save to keep Proctor scoreless.  Three minutes later, the Bulldogs almost increased the lead when Grace Libby (Standish, ME)  ripped a shot off the crossbar and then Lily Pleau (Hampton Falls, NH) got on the rebound but her shot went over.  The Bulldogs went into the halftime break up 1-0.

The Bulldogs came out in the second half hoping to increase the lead but struggled to maintain possession and keep the ball in the offensive half.  Proctor was dangerous on the attack but the Bulldog defense was up to the task and kept them off the board. Jessica Wojdak (West Newburyport, MA), Charlotte Vatcher (Kennebunk, ME), Lindsay Bennett (Sanford, ME), and Eliza Small (Portsmouth, NH) played the full 80 minutes and helped goalkeeper Louise Roper and the Bulldogs earn their 11th shutout of the season. Finally in the 74th minute, Charlotte Vatcher played a great corner to the back post that the proctor goalkeeper tried to punch away but Jessica Wojdak hit an amazing full volley back across the goal that was un- saveable and gave the Bulldogs a 2-0 advantage and secured the Bulldogs 9th win of the season.

The Bulldogs are now 9-1-3 and will host Portsmouth Abbey on Saturday, 10/30 in one of two remaining EIL league games and hope to secure their spot in the EIL tournament.
