Bulldogs Clinch Home EIL Playoff Game

The Bulldogs played the final game of their regular season, came out strong, and defeated Concord Academy 5-3.
 
In the first five minutes of the game, Eliza Small (Portsmouth, NH) took a strong shot from outside the 18, the ball bounced off a Concord Academy defender, and then off the goalie, helping to set the message that the Bulldogs would be a threat from the start. Then, in the 8th minute, Concord Academy scored when one of their players made an arcing run past the Bulldog defense and shot it into the net. Just over 10 minutes later, in the 20th minute, the Bulldogs scored their first goal of the game when Phoebe Clark (Hampton, NH) passed the ball back to Reese Murphy (Stratham, NH) who shot from outside the 18 and scored a beautiful goal. Twenty-eight minutes in, the same Concord Academy player who scored the first goal dribbled up the field, beat the Bulldog defenders and secured a second goal for Concord. Immediately after that, in the 29th minute, Chili Dowd (Amesbury, MA) passed the ball to Lily Pleau (Hampton Falls, NH) who passed to Sophia Whitney (Hampton, NH) who scored from the left hand side of the net. The Bulldogs played a stronger and stronger game as they neared the end of the first half. In the 39th minute, Grace Libby (Standish, ME) secured the third goal for the Bulldogs when she scored off a cross from Lily Pleau. 
 
The second half of the game included two final goals for the Bulldogs.  In the 63rd minute, Lily Pleau passed to Grace Libby who shot on goal; the ball then bounced off the goalie and Grace Libby scored off a rebound. With 15 minutes left in the second half, Concord Academy came back with a goal.  Minutes later, in the 69th minute of the game, the Bulldogs executed some beautiful passing and scored their final goal. Reese Murphy dribbled the ball, skillfully passed it to Phoebe Clark, Clark passed it to Sophia Whitney. Clark ran in toward the goal, Sophia Whitney passed her the ball, and Clark scored. 
 
The Bulldogs are now 12-2-3 and have secured the #2 seed in the EIL tournament and will host NCDS at 2pm on Friday 11/12. The Bulldogs look forward to finishing strong in the EIL tournament and are hopeful to earn a NEPSAC tournament berth.
