Bulldogs Fall in EIL Finals

On a crisp and sunny day at Pingree School, the Bulldogs fought hard for a win in the EIL finals against one of the only two teams to have beat them in the regular season. The Bulldogs ultimately ended up with a loss, but they put their full focus and strength into the game.

The Bulldogs were organized defensively in the first half, and Louise Roper (Kennebunkport, ME) had many critical saves to keep the game scoreless going into the second half. One remarkable save occurred three minutes in, when Roper dove across the right side of the net. Then again, in the 35th minute, she made another great save with a front smother in the box.

In the 51st minute of the game, Pingree School scored after a short breakaway and a shot into the bottom right corner of the net. While the Bulldogs were not able to recover and score against Pingree, they did have a good chance when Lily Pleau (Hampton Falls, NH) was fouled and Grace Libby (Standish, ME) drove a strong free kick to Pleau who headed the ball. The Pingree goalie got to the ball first, there was a skirmish in the box, and unfortunately the Bulldogs couldn’t capitalize on it.

The Bulldogs are now 13-3-3. While losing in the EIL finals was disappointing for the Bulldogs and their fans they received great news later this evening that they’ve officially qualified for the NEPSAC tournament as the number three seed and will host Proctor Academy on Wednesday 11/17 at 2 PM
