Support Berwick

Methods of Giving

The Berwick Fund operates on a fiscal year basis, from July 1 to June 30. Pledges are payable anytime before June 30 of the current academic year.

Cash
Cash gifts (including checks and credit/debit cards) are essential to The Berwick Fund. They are fully tax-deductible (for those who itemize) and provide the most convenient form of giving.

Checks may be sent to:
Berwick Academy
The Berwick Fund
31 Academy Street
South Berwick, ME 03908
Berwick accepts Visa, MasterCard, and American Express. Visitwww.berwickacademy.org/giving to make a secure gift online or call Kellie DeMers in the Advancement Office at 207.384.6303.

Recurring Gifts
Recurring gifts enable donors to build a significant annual contribution through smaller monthly installments. Arrangements can be made to automatically debit your checking or savings account on a monthly or annual basis, at no additional cost to the donor or Berwick Academy. To enroll, please contact Kellie DeMers in the Advancement Office at kdemers@berwickacademy.org or 207.384.6303.

Securities
Gifts of securities allow donors to realize substantial savings from capital gains tax. If you hold securities that would result in a long-term capital gain if sold, please consider donating shares to Berwick Academy. The actual cost to the donor is often far less than the value of your gift to the School. It is recommended that you consult with your tax advisor to discuss the latest IRS rules and regulations.

Donor Advised Funds
A donor advised fund (DAF) is a charitable giving program that allows you to combine tax benefits while supporting Berwick. DAF Direct is a secure partner that allows you to quickly and easily donate grants electronically from your Fidelity Charitable or Charles Schwab account.

Personal Property
A gift of real estate, artwork, or other appreciated property will most likely result in significant capital gains tax savings to the donor. Please call Amy Smucker in the Advancement Office at 207-384-6304 for further information.

Planned Gifts
For information about Planned Gifts, such as Charitable Gift Annuities, trusts, and bequests, see our planned giving page or call Stephanie Caswell in the Development Office at 207-384-6396.

Corporate and Employer Matching Gifts
Matching gifts allow donors to double (and sometimes triple!) their donations.  Check with your HR or Benefits department to see if such a program exists and how to get started. Submitting a matching gift is often as easy as completing an online form or filling out a piece of paper. Once initiated, Berwick works with your employer to take care of the rest.
