After School Programs

Fall After School Program registration is open!
All programs run from 3:15-5 p.m.

All fall after school program registrations will be on CampBrain.  

Please log-in, create an account, and sign up for programs for your child(ren) to enjoy after school on the Hilltop. If you see a program is full, please register for the waitlist. Note that program registration will close
Friday, Sept. 10 at 3 p.m.

    Payments
    Please pay by credit card. If circumstances require you to pay by other means, please contact Margot Harrington, Director of Auxiliary Programs, at 207-384-6199 or margot.harrington@berwickacademy.org.
     
    Aftercare Schedule Paired with After School Programs
    If you have signed up for the five-day Aftercare plan for your child(ren) and would also like to sign up for After School Programs, please do so on CampBrain and notify Margot Harrington, Director of Auxiliary Programs to apply a credit to your school account based on the number of days your child has After School Programs.
     
    Waitlists
    If first-choice programs are not available upon registration, a waitlist is available for each program. Participants are accepted from the waitlist based on open space and will be notified by telephone and/or email if space becomes available. We cannot guarantee any movement from the waitlist, and families enter the waitlist at their own discretion. 

    Late Registration
    Online registration will close at 3 p.m. on Friday, September 10, 2021.  If space is still available, late registration may be possible. Please contact Margot Harrington, Director of Auxiliary Programs, at 207-384-6199 or margot.harrington@berwickacademy.org to inquire. Registration is not complete until the Director has confirmed late registration with you. Child(ren) may not show up on the first day of the program unless they are registered.
     
    Financial Assistance
    Payment plans and limited financial assistance are available upon request.  Please reach out to Margot Harrington, Director of Auxiliary Programs at 207-384-6199 or margot.harrington@berwickacademy.org for more information.
     
    Cancellations/Withdrawals
    With email notification to the Director of Auxiliary Programs, Margot Harrington at margot.harrington@berwickacademy.org, families may withdraw a participant from After School Program under the following scenarios: 
     
     *Cancellations before Monday, September 13, 2021 via email or phone: You will receive a refund/credit less 25% of the program fee. You can use a credit to sign up for other programs during the season or keep it on your account for future seasonal programming.
     
     *Cancellations on or after Monday, September 13, 2021 via email or phone: There will be no refunds/credits offered.
     
    No refund or reduction in fees is possible for a child who arrives late, leaves early, or attends only part of a program because of illness, other than a hospital stay.
     
    Berwick Academy reserves the right to cancel any program due to under enrollment or unforeseen circumstances. Participants will be given the choice of selecting another available program or receiving a full refund of paid fees.
     
    In the event that Berwick Academy After School Programs are not able to operate due to state regulatory requirements in regards to the COVID-19 pandemic, fees will be prorated and refunded.
     
    Inclement Weather Policy
    We do our best to remain open and follow an indoor schedule during inclement weather. In the event that campus must close prior to the start of After School Programs, we will notify you as soon as possible to make other dismissal arrangements. We will notify you if make-up days can be arranged.

    • Description: In this beginner course, you will learn all the basic clay building techniques to form pottery. Learn pinch pots, coil pots, slab building, and more! We will glaze our creations and they will be able to be sent home by the end of the session. Youth will also try new crafts, as well as participate in team building games and activities. This is a place where youth are encouraged to get creative and get their hands dirty as we build things together!

    • Description: We will jump right into the kitchen at the Katz Learning Lab with some basic and more advanced tasks through a variety of classes. Jr. chefs in training will learn to recognize and use tools and appliances in the kitchen, read recipes and labels, and kitchen safety and sanitation. They will have fun making a variety of basic international and classic regional American recipes from johnnycakes and maple syrup to sushi rolls. Participants will learn basic food math skills and gain an understanding of the historical significance of food in our global society. The favorite part of this class will be making recipes that participants are going to taste and every jr. chef will take home the recipes so they can recreate the experience at home for their friends and families.

    • Description: Whether soaring through the sky, climbing through the trees, or swimming through the water, our local wildlife are always on the hunt for food, busy raising babies and surviving in the wild! Learn what it takes for wild animals to survive in the wild and how we can help animal species in our area. The Center for Wildlife's team of Project WILD certified educators will be accompanied by the Center's non-releasable wildlife ambassadors for an interactive presentation and STEAM nature-based activity as we bring the concepts of wildlife conservation to life!

    • Description: Join us for a fun-filled adventure in the world of science, technology engineering, art, and mathematics. Every week you will work on new projects like building rockets or creating giant bubbles, all while exploring things work! Toss in some food science and magic and you have a workshop not to be missed.
  • Animal Tracking & Plant Identification | Mondays | Sept. 20 - Oct. 25 (Except Oct. 11) | Grades 5-8

    • Instructor: Center for Wildlife
    • Cost: $350
    • Description: A footprint in the mud, a collection of feathers, a pile of half-eaten acorns, bark scraped from a tree; These are all the signs left behind by our wild animal friends. Throughout the year, wildlife leave clues of their presence in the forest and fields all around us. You just need to learn where to look! Join the Center for Wildlife's team of educators as we track local wildlife species while also exploring the wealth of knowledge there is to gain from the trees, shrubs and other plants found in our area. This immersive program will put your wildlife tracking and plant identification skills to the test as we hit the trails in search of both plants and animals.

    • Description: With over 50+ years of combined skateboard experience and a 365 indoor skatepark, we aim to bring our communities the facilities, knowledge, and tools to succeed at skateboarding! We provide dedicated one-on-one instruction from beginners to advanced levels, covering all areas including street skateboarding, park skating, and even pool/halfpipe instruction. Individualized and group lessons allow skaters to organically learn from the instructors and each other while having fun in the process.
      Required gear: a skateboard and a helmet.
      Optional gear: knee, elbow, and wrist protection.
