Inspiration Commons

Create, Innovate, Inspire

Inspiration Commons is intended to provide a collaborative learning space where the community can gather, share, create, innovate, and most importantly inspire each other.
Inspiration Commons (IC) is housed in the Jackson Library and is the newest addition to our growing Berwick Innovation Center. Several spaces for creating, collaborating, designing, and exhibiting give students a variety of opportunities to be innovative. Students from Pre-K through Grade 12 have access to the space, which embraces the School's interdisciplinary and student-driven philosophy.

List of 3 items.

  • The Hub

The Hub is the central gathering space intended for brainstorming, collaborating, and exhibiting work. The floor to ceiling whiteboard walls are often used by students to jot down ideas and designs. A large monitor is used for student and faculty presentations, and the space is flexible in that tables and chairs can be adjusted according to the needs of the class or event.
  • Digital Design Classroom

The Digital Design Classroom provides Adobe software and Mac computers used for modeling, composing, and editing music, film, photography, and visual art.
  • The Fabrication Studio

The Fabrication Studio is a lab where designs come to life. As part of a class or during free time, students have access to 3D printers, a CNC router, laser cutter, sewing machine, and hand tools.

Dedicated to Our Faculty and Staff

The Inspiration Commons at Berwick Academy’s Jackson Library is dedicated to all past, present, and future faculty and staff for their tireless efforts to vitalize and inspire the growth of this school. This space, its design classroom, fabrication studio and gathering/collaborative areas, is intended to serve as a continued source of inspiration for all members of the Berwick community in their efforts to apply knowledge usefully and solve problems creatively.

Sarah, Upper School Student

As a kinetic learner, I appreciate the hands-on learning opportunities the Inspiration Commons provides. Now students will be able to learn by 3D printing or laser cutting an object to help prove the theory or idea being taught in class.
