Are you a Schleyer Scholar?

To ensure that more students are able to experience a Berwick education, we offer the Mary Z. Schleyer Scholarship in addition to the $4.6M awarded in Financial Aid. This need-based scholarship provides full tuition to two new students entering ninth grade each year. Applicants must showcase extraordinary academic achievement and distinctive talents in one or more of the following areas: arts, athletics, community service, or leadership. The grant will be renewed through graduation if the student maintains an outstanding academic, social, and extra-curricular record.
Becoming a Schleyer Scholar:
  1. To be considered for a Schleyer Scholarship, students must submit a 300-500 word essay to supplement their admission and financial aid applications. In this essay, applicants should address the following questions: If awarded the Schleyer Scholarship, how will you use your distinctive talents in arts, athletics, community service, or leadership to positively impact the community and life of Berwick Academy?
  1. Ensure that completed Admission and Financial Aid applications are submitted to Berwick Academy by January 15, 2022.
  1. Schleyer Scholarship essays can be submitted to Haley Preston (hpreston@berwickacademy.org) or by mailing a hard copy to 31 Academy Street, South Berwick, ME 03908 to the attention of Haley Preston, Associate Director of Admission.
All Schleyer applicants will be notified of their status in the Schleyer Scholarship process in February.
