Berwick Grabs EIL Opener

Berwick opened EIL play with a convincing win over the visiting Highlanders of the Pingree School. Sophomore Jack O'Brien opened up the scoring in minute 24 after redirecting a header over the keeper on a pass from Amir Makdad. A few minutes later, it was Amir himself doubling the lead after catching a half-volley on a feed from junior Jonathan Hooper. One more goal from Nii Lokko on a corner kick from junior Owen Spinney completed a very satisfying first half. The second frame witnessed continued possession from the home side, and it was junior Owen Small hammering one home from the edge of the box and senior captain MacGregor Caffelle converting a free kick from well outside it. Goalie Jak Loughlin enjoyed his second shutout in as many games, and the boys look to wrap up a good opening week when they host EIL powerhouse, Wheeler on Saturday.
