Tilton 6 - Berwick 3

Tilton makes Berwick pay for crucial mental mistakes
TILTON, NH - The Bulldogs put forth a strong effort tonight, but they struggled to sustain much pressure on Tilton and some key defensive lapses ended up costing Berwick in the end. The shots were 9-7 after one, with Tilton scoring with 2:45 left in the period to take a 1-0 lead into the break.

Tilton scored again midway through the second but Nick McSorley (Biddeford, ME) answered for the Bulldogs after a beautiful stretch pass by Paddy Condon (S. Berwick, ME). Condon, breaking with the puck up ice on the power play, found McSorley at the far blue line and McSorley beat the goalie high to the blocker side to make it 2-1. Shots were 21-17 in favor of Tilton after two.

Tilton scored just 53 seconds into the third but Berwick hung tough, making it a one-goal game again when Chris Dowd (Danville, NH) shelved one from the point with the assist and net-front screen from Shane White (Londonderry, NH). Tilton countered just thirty seconds later with their own marker. With five minutes remaining, Carson James (Falmouth, ME) outmuscled a Tilton defender before making a hard drive to the net and beating the goalie high to the glove side. Tilton scored once more and again with the Berwick goalie pulled.

A few costly turnovers in their own end killed the Bulldogs, as did some long shifts and poor defensive zone coverage. For a team that has three key players out with season-ending injuries, there is not a lot of room for mental mistakes. Now sitting firmly at .500 (10-10-1), the reeling Bulldogs need a big effort on the road this Saturday if they want to keep alive any hope of playoffs.
