Berwick Bulldogs Beat Proctor Hornets 1-0

Sarah Anderson
On Wed, 10/22, just as the sun was setting, The Berwick Bulldogs played a strong game against the Proctor Hornets under the lights at Proctor and came home with a 1-0 win.  In the 8th minute of the match,  off a great throw-in from Emma Rich '27 (Dover, NH), Berwick had a build-up from Phoebe Yaris '29 (Raymond, NH) to Carly Shumway '29 (Well, ME) to Tatum Sloper '27 (Scarborough, ME), who made an arching shot from the top of the 18 into the top of the net, scoring the single goal of the game. After that, the Bulldogs had a few good chances off of great corner kicks by Griffin Demers '27 but just could not capitalize on them.  They battled and played a strong defensive game. Yaris and Rylee White '29 (Fremont, NH) battled up top, Sophia DeSimone '28 (Dover, NH) worked hard in the center of midfield with Sloper, and the back four -- Emma Rich '27 (Dover, NH) , Liv Pate '27 (Exeter, NH), Leila Beakes '26 (Rollinsford, NH), and Alice Walker '28 (Eliot, ME) kept Proctor at bay with many strong defensive moves.   In the second half, goalkeeper Alexa Garcia '26 (Dover, NH) made a breakaway save to keep the game scoreless.
The Bulldogs are 9-3-1 on the season.
On their home turf, the Bulldogs will take on Portsmouth Abbey on Saturday, 10/25.
Go Bulldogs!
