Berwick Caps First Win over Dexter Southfield School
After a tough 15 point loss in the first meet, the Berwick Academy swim team came back with a big win over the Southfield/Dexter swim team.
Individual first place finishers included Thomas Anderson in the 200 freestyle, Isabel Reis in the 100 IM, Drew Macdonald in the 50 Butterfly, Amelia Snyder in the 100 Freestyle, Emma Whall in the 100 Backstroke and Aaron Fleischer in the 100 Breaststroke. The first place 200 Medley Relay was made up of Emma Whall, Ethan Garstka, Amelia Snyder and Jack McCraven. There was a very tight finish between the first and second 200 Free Relays. The first place finishing team was made up of Teddy Vatcher, Ethan Garstka, Amelia Snyder and Drew Macdonald. They narrowly touched out the second place relay of Gage Anderson, Tess McNamara, Sophie Bravo and Isabel Reis. The top finishers in the 400 Free Relay were Tess McNamara, Aaron Fleischer, Thomas Anderson and Drew Macdonald.
The two most notable swims of the day were by Hans Morris in the 50 Butterfly who broke 30 seconds for the first time ever and by Abby Donoghue in the 100 Backstroke who had a really strong finish that was too close to call.
The swim team will be hosting its first home meet on Saturday, January 10 at UNH. We will be competing against Bancroft, Pingree, Kents Hill and Hyde.
