Bulldogs Tie Winsor in the 76th Minute

Berwick  1 Winsor 1

The Bulldogs came away with a 1-1 draw at Winsor.  Despite being down 1-0 since the 33rd minute, the Bulldogs never gave up and got the equalizer in the 76th minute, when Kenza Farid (Hampton, NH) played Julia Schaepe (Newburyport, MA) behind the defense whose shot was deflected and Kat Reid (Dover, NH) put it into the back of the net to earn the Bulldogs the draw.

The first half was back and forth with Winsor creating a quality chance early that went over the bar and earning corners in the 31st and 33rd minute.  Despite a good corner from Sahanah Heiderscheidt (Lee, NH) in the 2nd minute, a breakaway from Schaepe in the 9th minute, Reid breaking through in the 22nd minute and Farid's shot in the 29th minute, the Bulldogs could not get one by a strong Winsor keeper.  The Winsor corner in the 33rd minute created a scramble in the 6yd box and put them up 1-0.  In the 37th minute Caroline Hernon (Hampton, NH) set up Schaepe for a grat chance but the Winsor keeper again came away with the save and the Bulldogs were down by 1 going into halftime.

Sam Montagno (Exeter, NH) had a big save in the 45th minute, which kept the Bulldogs in the game and down by only one goal.  Caroline Starr (Rye, NH) hit a rip near post off a pass from Hernon but the Winsor keeper tipped it over the bar.  With only 6 mins left Reid broke through and tried to poke it by the keeper, but again the Winsor keeper got a touch, and Annie Vatcher's (Kennebunk, ME) shot off the rebound went just over.  But Reid got the equalizer just a few minutes later when Kenza Farid (Hampton, NH) played Julia Schaepe (Newburyport, MA) behind the defense whose shot was deflected and Reid put it into the back of the net to earn the Bulldogs the draw.

The Bulldogs are now 4-0-1 and will host LCA on Wednesday 9/30 at 4:30pm.  Go Bulldogs!
