Something Special for the Lower School!
The power of play and explorative fun!

Innovation Ex is an afterschool enrichment program available to students in grades 1-4. Following a club model, Innovation Ex will meet weekly from October through March and students will collaborate and creatively problem-solve while working on Innovation Pursuits (IPs) led by a session-mentor.

Innovation Ex meets on Tuesdays, from 3:15 p.m.-4:30 p.m., and is broken down into four 4-week sessions. Each session will have a specific focus and be facilitated by a “Session Mentor.” Possible session topics include a focus on the arts, mathematics, robotics, etc.

2016-2017 Session Dates
Session I:  Oct 11, 18, 25, Nov 1
Session II:  Nov 8, 15, 29, Dec 6
Session III:  Dec 13, 20, Jan 10, 17
Session IV:  Jan 31Feb 7, 14, 21

At the conclusion of our fourth session, we will have a mini “Innovation Ex. Celebration” where kids from all four sessions will come to the Jackson Library and talk about their IPs and accomplishments with parents, session mentors, and guests!

"The Lower School’s Innovation Ex Program fosters discovery, creativity, and fun; these enrichment sessions provide our youngest learners with the opportunity to explore and experiment with new concepts and skills."

- Jennifer Brewer, Lower School Librarian
BIC for the 4th Grade
The Lower School Innovation program is available to students in grade 4 and follows the successful completion of the Innovation Pursuit assignment completed by all fourth graders under the guidance of their homeroom teacher. Students may elect to continue their in-depth exploration of their IP topic by collaborating with the Lower School Innovation Coordinator to take their project to a deeper level of inquiry.

Exhibition Opportunity!
With the support of a mentor, students prepare and present their IPs at the annual Innovation Celebration held in May.
