As Halloween approaches, one might worry that the universe would favor the visiting Ravens, but this was not to be a day of dreary; instead, it was an afternoon of well matched foes. Berwick managed to control the pace and skill of Abbey's front runners and midfield, and matched their attacks with several of their own. A tight midfield of Justin, Jack, and Liam complemented the organization and frequent interceptions of our back line, which ultimately led to some steady service into Liam Q, Lucas, Amir, and Nii. Eventually it was a run into the box by Amir that resulted in him being pulled to the ground by the desperate defender. Deftly he converted the penalty into a 1-0 lead for the hosts. The second half saw much of what was witnessed in the first; however, our thin bench and tired legs eventually allowed Abbey some increased chances, all of which were turned away by the solid goal keeping of Jak and collective defending of those in front of him, well, all but one. In the end - though we'd like to see the hard work result in grabbing all 3 points - both teams might agree that a tie was the fair product.
