NYA and Berwick tie 1-1 in this sleeper

Rafe Gaughan makes a few key saves down the stretch to help Bulldogs walk away with a point

DOVER, NH –Just three days after thoroughly outplaying NYA, Berwick failed to generate much offense tonight. Jackson Sidford (Newburyport, MA) potted a rebound while on the man advantage with a minute remaining in the first. Assists on the play went to Chris Dowd (Danville, NH) and Tanner Derby (Newburyport, MA).

The Bulldogs asserted themselves early on in the second period but failed to convert on any of their opportunities. With five minutes remaining in the period, Julien Rudolph made a beautiful individual effort to beat two Berwick defenders for the game tying, shorthanded goal. NYA poured on the pressure in the third, outshooting the Bulldogs and forcing Rafe Gaughan (Somersworth, NH) to make some big saves.

It was a frustrating night for the Bulldogs, who really lost the battle of the neutral zone. Berwick will need some better efforts moving forward if they hope to make any noise this year.
