Bulldogs Suffer Second Loss

The Bulldogs traveled to Brewster Academy for a non-league NEPSAC class C game against the undefeated Bobcats and unfortunately came up short.

The Bulldogs were strong in the opening minutes of the match and had the Bobcats back in their defensive half, but in the third minute Brewster caught the Berwick defense flat and got in on a breakaway that earned them an early 1-0 lead.  The Bulldogs were down but still created some quality chances, and just couldn't get on the board.  Louise Roper (Kennebunkport, ME) made a great save in the 30th minute to keep the Bobcats from increasing their lead.  In the 32nd minute unfortunately the Bobcats got their second goal of the game.  Roper again made a great save, but the Bobcats were there to put in the rebound.  In the 34th minute the Bulldogs got their best chance to get on the board when the ball bounced around the 18 creating a fury of shots and blocked attempts until the ball came out to Lily Pleau (Hampton Falls, NH) whose shot went over the bar.  The Bulldogs went into the halftime break down 2-0

Determined to get on the board the Bulldogs started the second half stronger.  Bella Mazza (Madbury, NH) stepped up big for the Bulldogs playing in the midfield and then as a center back.  Pleau set up Sophia Whitney (Hampton, NH) with a great cross but her shot just missed.  Roper came up big again with a great save in the 50th minute.  Sadly in the 53rd minute Brewster had a great play down the right side connecting passes for their third and best goal of the game.  In the 55th minute Brewster capitalized on a corner kick to make it 4-0.

The Bulldogs suffered their second loss of the season and are now 11-2-3 and will host Concord Academy in their last regular season game on November 10th and hope to secure the #2 seed in the EIL tournament and host a semifinal game on November 12th.  The Bulldogs will hope to finish strong in the EIL tournament and earn a NEPSAC tournament berth and another chance vs the Bobcats in postseason play.
