Fall on the Hilltop Programs Registration Information

Extend your child(ren)’s school day with an array of after school programs with Fall on the Hilltop! Berwick Academy is excited to launch our fall auxiliary programs, registration is now open! Grab your spots to a wide array of programming for Lower and Middle School students. 

Families will be asked to create an account on CampBrain or log into their current account. Payments in CampBrain can only be completed with a credit card.     Have you ever wondered how superheroes in comic books are made? When reading a webcomic, have you ever
    thought, "I wish I could do that." Young artists in Comic Creatives will learn the basics of comic creation from
    start to finish. Artists will explore different comic art styles such as anime, cartoon, and marvel while creating
    their own illustrations and honing their skills.

    Learn how to sew! Sewing isn’t just for your grandma-it’s a great life skill and a way to make some amazing,
    low-budget, and super thoughtful gifts for your friends and family! Each week students will make utilitarian
    projects like dopp kits, zippered makeup/pencil pouches, tote bags, or self-care items. Participants will leave
    with the complete instructions and patterns to remake any of the projects at home. All supplies will be included!

    In this program, students will have a chance to flex their imaginations and gain basic theater skills and etiquette.

    Get creative with clay! In this program students will use slabs of clay and stencils to make unique hanging winter and holiday decorations. Pieces will be glazed and available to pick up approximately a week after the session.

    What's one of the best things to do on fall day in New England? Bake treats with apples and pumpkins! During this two-day program, we will be in the Test Kitchen making some of our favorite fall-inspired snacks, such as caramel apples, pumpkin cake, and more!

    We will jump right into the Test Kitchen with some basic and more advanced tasks through a variety of classes. Junior Chefs in training will learn to recognize and use tools and appliances in the kitchen, read recipes, and learn kitchen safety and sanitation. They will have fun acquiring a variety of basic cooking skills and recipes from countries and regions such as Japan, The Mediterranean, South America, and India. Participants will learn basic food math skills and gain an understanding of the historical significance of food in our global society. The highlight of this class will be making recipes that participants taste test and every Junior Chef will keep the recipes so they can recreate the experience at home for their friends and families.

    Your instructors will guide you through the fundamentals of surfing, including paddling, how to stand, riding, ocean safety, and wave selection. Surfing takes time so you will build off what you learn each day to help become a solid all-around surfer with the goal that after a few sessions with Liquid Dreams, you will feel comfortable riding waves on your own. Students should bring a swimsuit, towel, snack, and water. Liquid Dreams will provide the wetsuits and surfboards. Spaces are limited, so sign up fast! This program will use a Berwick Academy vehicle to get to and from the beach. Please also note the late return as the late bus will not be available.

    Want to just "hang around" after school at the indoor rock gym? Join us for four weeks of bouldering and top roping at Indoor Ascent in Dover! Berwick employees will partner with Indoor Ascent staff to provide guidance and safety while students build climbing skills and strength. Everyone will have a blast! Equipment and transportation to and from the rock gym are included in the cost. Spaces are limited so sign up fast! This program will use a Berwick Academy vehicle to get to and from the rock gym.

    Join us for afternoons of forest navigation with White Pine Programs! Your child(ren) will engage in nature-based play and learning opportunities that encourage exploration, teach naturalist skills, build environmental stewardship, and connection to nature. Games and fun activities will focus on the trees and wildlife local to Berwick Academy. Children will leave tired and dirty, but inspired to spend more time outdoors!

The magic makes the fun happen and the fun makes learning easy!

    While soaring through the sky, climbing through the trees, or swimming through the water, our local wildlife are always on the hunt for food, busy raising babies, and surviving in the wild! Learn what it takes for animals to survive in the wild and how we can help animal species found in our area. The Center for Wildlife's team of Project WILD certified educators will be accompanied by the Center's non-releasable wildlife ambassadors for an interactive presentation and STEAM nature-based activity as we bring the concepts of wildlife conservation to life! Each session will focus on a new and exciting topic of ecology, include hands-on activity time, and help aspiring naturalists learn about what they can do to help protect our environment. To keep things fresh and engaging, we will talk about different plant and animal species each class and spend time exploring both indoors and out!

    Center for Wildlife invites the Berwick Academy community for a full day of active learning here at our campus during our Wild Exploration Day! During this program, students will get the opportunity to: gain behind-the-scenes knowledge on the caretaking of our ambassador animals, meet ambassador animals and learn about their species, partake in a variety of nature-based crafts, and activities and take a short nature hike on CFW nature trails! All activities will be catered to varying grade ranges. Students will have numerous breaks throughout the day including lunch (BYO lunch, snacks, and water). A large portion of this day will be spent outdoors so weather-appropriate clothing and sturdy, waterproof footwear are recommended.

    Spend a day in the forests and fields of Zach’s Farm playing games, exploring the woods, and tracking wildlife. We will practice survival skills like fire making, fort building, and orienteering in addition to learning about the marsh and its inhabitants. Children will be in small groups led by White Pine’s talented outdoor educators and will come home happy, dirty, and inspired to spend more time outdoors!
