Student-directed learning with a focus on knowing through doing

Student-directed learning means we focus on knowing through doing, with an emphasis on actual research, interdisciplinary connections, and grappling with real-world problems. Students at all grade levels direct their learning in age appropriate ways, from free play and exploration in our youngest grades to integrated projects in the Middle School, the IP program in Middle and Upper School, and the Pathways Program in the Upper School. We find that when students follow their passions, they are able to thrive.
