On Saturday, Oct. 31, the Bulldogs faced their second NEPSAC class C match-up of the week, playing Portsmouth Abbey and coming home from Rhode Island with a 1-0 win. The Bulldogs are now 11-3-1 on the season.
At minute 17, the Bulldogs showed they were there to play when Senior Liv Pate (Exeter, NH) ran onto the ball at midfield and launched it to the flag where Sophia DeSimone ‘28 (Dover, NH) ran onto it and shot it just wide. Just two minutes later, Carly Shumway ‘29 (Wells, ME) made a shot that hit the crossbar. The Bulldogs kept the pressure on their opponents in a tough, physical game for the full 80 minutes. With just two minutes left in the first half, Goalkeeper Julia Brennan ‘28 (Exeter, NH) made a great save off a corner kick. Just two minutes after that, defender Liv Pate saved a goal by kicking it far out of the penalty box when Goalkeeper Brennan had to run out of the area. The Bulldogs were at a 0-0 tie at the half.
In the 66th minute, Shumway made a breakaway goal off an assist from Phoebe Yaris ‘29 (Raymond, NH) and Goalkeeper Julia Brennan ‘28 (Exeter, NH) for the Bulldogs win. The Bulldogs will play Winsor School at home for the Senior Game and Pink Out game on Wednesday, Nov. 4.
