Berwick Academy Announces Class of 2025 Top Scholars

South Berwick, ME — Berwick Academy has announced nine cum laude inductees from the Class of 2025. A commencement ceremony was held Saturday, June 7 at 10 a.m. The graduates are listed below in alphabetical order.
Drew Cabral
Drew Cabral, of Lee, New Hampshire, is the son of Kevin and Jennifer Cabral and the brother of older sister Julia. He joined Berwick as a ninth grader and has earned numerous academic honors, including two Cogswell Medals, the Science Departmental Recognition Award, and the Harvard Book Prize. He was inducted into the National Spanish Honor Society and the Cum Laude Society, and was chosen to represent the Class of 2025 as the student speaker at Commencement. A dedicated athlete, he played varsity soccer all four years and was team captain in his senior year, earning EIL and NEPSAC recognition. His passion for science took him beyond the classroom, completing a summer internship in chemistry and aerospace engineering at AeroDynamics. He balanced athletics and academics with service work, volunteering through Berwick’s Outreach program and throughout the Seacoast area. As a leader, he served as Co-Chair of the Student Leadership Council, a member of the Honor Committee, and a student athletic leader. In the fall, he will study chemistry at Boston College.

Tucker Demers
Tucker Demers, of Rochester, New Hampshire, is the son of Adelle Tibbetts and Ryan Demers and the older brother of Sawyer and Griffin. A Berwick stalwart, he joined the school’s first ever Pre-Kindergarten class and grew up on the Hilltop. A multi-sport athlete, he captained the varsity soccer, basketball, and baseball teams in his senior year. His academic curiosity shone through in Berwick’s Math, Investment, and Fantasy Sports clubs, the latter of which he co-led as a senior. His achievements include induction into the National Spanish Honor Society and Cum Laude Society, as well as the prestigious Rensselaer Medal Award for excellence in math and science. Next year, he’ll head to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute to study engineering.

Luke Dorsey
Luke Dorsey, of Durham, New Hampshire, is the son of Molly and Kurk Dorsey and has been part of the Berwick Academy community since first grade. An accomplished student, he was inducted into the National Latin Honor Society as a sophomore and the Cum Laude Society as a senior, also earning the Johns Hopkins Book Award. His time at Berwick has been marked by diverse pursuits—he rowed on the crew team for three years, ran sound for six theater productions, and completed three Innovation Pursuits exploring historical topics. Outside of school, he practices martial arts. Next year, he will be attending Tufts University.

Maya Learner
Maya Learner, of Stratham, New Hampshire, is the daughter of Betsy and Adam Learner and joined Berwick in sixth grade. She was a co-leader of both the Chinese Culture and Math Clubs. Her hard work in Mandarin earned her the Departmental Recognition Award and membership in the National Chinese Honor Society. Service has been a key part of her Berwick journey—she spent winter afternoons volunteering at the Dover Food Pantry, Woodman Park Elementary, and South Berwick Table of Plenty. Outside of school, she takes voice lessons and practices aerial dance at Musical Arts in Exeter. For her senior project she created friendship bracelets with positive messages for RiverWoods Retirement Community residents. In the fall, she will attend Boston College and plans to major in mathematics and minor in Mandarin.

Ryan Lewandowski
Ryan Lewandowski, of Chester, New Hampshire, is the son of Matthew and Kerri Lewandowski and joined Berwick as a ninth grader. He thrived both in the classroom and beyond. He earned the Dartmouth Book Award, the Mathematics Departmental Recognition Award, and membership in the Spanish National Honor Society and Cum Laude Society. He served as a Prefect, a Student Leadership Council member, a Student Athlete Leadership Team member, and captain of the varsity hockey team in his senior year. For his senior project, he created a podcast called “Behind the Bulldog,” where he interviewed members of the Berwick community to explore their stories and experiences. He will attend Saint Anselm College where he plans to study data science and analytics.

Aidan McEachern
Aidan McEachern, of Kittery, Maine, is the son of Deirdre and Joseph McEachern and has attended Berwick Academy for four years. He is a member of the National Art Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, and International Thespian Honor Society. He has earned numerous awards, including Departmental Recognition in visual arts and history, two Cogswell Awards for academic achievement, and multiple theater awards for his work on stage productions. His talent in the arts has also been recognized by the Maine Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. Beyond school, he’s a magician, visual effects creator, and ice cream enthusiast—especially peanut butter cup flavor! This spring for his senior project, he co-directed a murder mystery short film with a team of fellow students. He will attend Vassar College to continue his creative journey in film and drama.

Celeste Siecke
Celeste Siecke, of Exeter, New Hampshire, is the daughter of Caroline and Warren Siecke and joined Berwick as a ninth grader. On the Hilltop, she has won the English Departmental Award and the Biology Award and was inducted into the National Spanish Honor Society. In eleventh grade, she explored the intersection of medicine and sports through an Innovation Pursuit on wearable medical devices for young athletes. She was part of the Outreach Program, Sustainability Club, and Chinese Culture Club, and served as Co-Chair of the Student Leadership Council. She’s also a four-year varsity field hockey player and was team captain in her senior year. At her summer internship at Portsmouth Regional Hospital last year, she shadowed medical professionals in over 20 specialties and helped to introduce activity tablets into the pediatric psychiatric unit. In the fall, she will study biomedical sciences at Tufts University.

Naia Strong
Naia Strong, of Nottingham, New Hampshire, is the daughter of Karen and Jim Strong and was part of Berwick’s first pre-kindergarten class. A passionate dancer, she’s been with Berwick’s dance program since kindergarten and became captain of the dance company in her junior year. She has performed in countless events, from “Newsies” to biannual orchestra concerts and Sole City dance shows. She has been inducted into the National Chinese Honor Society, Tri-M Music Honor Society, and the National Honor Society for Dance Arts, and she received the Yale Book Award. Her commitment and talent were recognized with multiple departmental awards in Mandarin and the arts. This fall, she will attend the University of Rochester, where she plans to study neuroscience.

Elizabeth Tullai
Elizabeth Tullai, of York, Maine, is the daughter of Dr. John Tullai and Jennifer Moores and joined Berwick in fifth grade. She is a violinist who’s been part of the school orchestra since she arrived and was recognized with a Math Departmental Recognition Award as a sophomore. She was inducted into the National Spanish Honor Society, the Thespian Honor Society, and the Tri-M Music Honor Society that same year. An engaged community member, she helped lead the Berwick Votes club and organize Unity Day. Her junior year included a service trip to Kenya—an experience she describes as life-changing. Her senior year she volunteered in the archives and helped to organize thousands of records, and she used that experience as part of a senior project that blended her love for storytelling and her passion for service: writing a short fantasy story. In the fall, she will study neuroscience at Boston University.
