Afternoon Programming: Excellence Driven By A Community that Says “Yes”

Walking into our Art Team classroom on a Thursday afternoon, you immediately notice the buzz of activity, the joy, the energy, but also the focus, skill, and care our students put into their work. Laughter, encouragement, and guidance echo just as you would hear on any field, court, or rink. Our Art Team students are not just creating on our campus, but engaging in authentic experiences with our Grades 7 and 8 members participating in the Scholastic Art Awards while our Grades 5 and 6 students will have their block prints curated in the Munakata Shiko Collection at the Aomori Museum of Art in Japan!

Every day of the school week, you will find roughly half of our Lower School students, across all grades, participating in one of our school-day dance classes or for our 3rd and 4th graders, Dance Company, in the afternoons. Led by faculty member Liz Calandra, students not only build dance skills, but learn about themselves as performers, developing gross motor skills, spatial awareness, new forms of creativity, confidence building, collaborating, and being comfortable in front of an audience. 

Our Upper School Fall Play, Mutually Assured Destruction, is in full swing with 30 Upper School students spread across cast and crew.  Alongside our faculty experts, our actors, stage designers, customers, and technical lighting and sound students are gaming real world opportunities for leadership, building friendships, overcoming nerves of being on-stage, and navigating the fun and sometimes unpredictable challenges that putting on a production presents. 

Our Fall pre-season has already showcased the substantial talent and potential of our athletes, with 155 students participating. These students will all be competing at this year’s Founders Day/Blue and White Day Celebration. Some early season highlights include:
