St. Mark's too much for Berwick

St. Mark's' veteran-laden team kept coming in waves. Berwick cut the lead to 2-1 early in the third but couldn't find the equalizer.

DOVER, NH –St. Mark’s came out hot last night, beating Berwick 4-1 for their fourth victory in a row and sixth out of their last seven. Berwick, hoping to keep the train rolling after a strong effort against Exeter, came out flat and spotted the Lions a 2-0 lead. Goals by seniors Derek Osik and Zach Tsekos got the Lions ahead, while Matt Kenneally held strong in the Berwick crease to keep the lead to two.

The Bulldogs still surrendered a fair number of shots to the Lions in the second, but they matched their intensity and kept things at 2-0 heading into the third.

Two minutes into the final period, Nate McCrone fed Derek Muse who fired near-side low from 30 feet. Cole Hernon was crashing the net and tipped the puck right over Ryan Ferland’s pad. Tsekos quieted the arena just 47 seconds later with a one-timed laser high glove; nothing Kenneally could do. St. Mark’s tacked on an empty netter to finish.

Peter Housakos played a strong game for the Lions, along with Tsekos and his two goals. For the Bulldogs, Kenneally brought his A-game, while Francesco Pozzi and Derek Muse raised the bar with gritty performances.
