Berwick rallies from four down but gives up late winner
J. Jarnot
Down 4-0 after one, the Bulldogs pulled even at 4 in the third, only to give up a PPG with 22 seconds remaining.
DOVER, NH -Berwick was asleep at the wheel to open this one, spotting Hebron a four goal lead through one.
Berwick earned a powerplay immediately in the second period, and Greg Stohrer (Dover, NH) cashed in on assists from Jackson Sidford (Newburyport, MA) and Jack Williams (Biddeford, ME). Halfway through the second Tyler Gaulin (Kingston, NH) collected a pass through the neutral zone and the lefty worked the defender wide then shot back across the net, beating the goalie on a shot the ticked off the crossbar and down into the cage. Assists went to Pete Marshall (Wolfeboro, NH) and Cole Shelgren (Dover, NH). Three minutes later Stohrer picked up the puck off a defensive zone draw and scorer a mirror image of Gaulin's goal but from the other side.
Just 34 seconds into the third Byron Welch (Henniker, NH) knotted the score at four on a beautiful feed from Ryan Gaulin (Kingston, NH). The Bulldogs controlled play in the third but couldn't find the net again. A late penalty put Berwick down a man and Hebron cashed in with only 22 seconds remaining. It was a painful way to end the game after such a strong comeback effort.
