Pomfret pounds Berwick

Pomfret chases Gaughan early and gives Berwick defensemen fits

MARION, MA –This one got off to a rough start with Berwick spotting Pomfret a 4-0 lead in the first. Freshman goalie Alex Ramsay (Yarmouth, ME) saw his first action of the year and stopped 26 of 30 shots.

In the second period, Berwick mounted a small comeback, scoring two quick goals off the sticks of Jack Merecki (Stratham, NH) and Greg Stohrer (Dover, NH). Merecki’s powerplay goal came off Tyler Gaulin (Kingston, NH) and Cole Shelgren (Dover, NH) assists. Stohrer’s came on assists from Brady Desjardins (Westbrook, ME) and Jackson Sidford (Newburyport, MA).

The Bulldogs are a long way from their season opening victory against Belmont Hill at this point. They need some younger players to step up in the absence of Ryan Gaulin (knee) and Zander Lizotte (shoulder), who got hurt in this one.
