The Berwick girls varsity soccer team earned their 12th win of the season in a back and forth thriller with Proctor Academy. Berwick created alot of chances in the first half but could not get on the board. In the 7th minute Aaliyah Farid (Hampton, NH) set up Caroline Starr (Rye, NH) for a shot off a corner but the keeper made the save. In the 18th minute Rayne Zimmermann (Exeter, NH) played a long ball to Starr who set up Brayden Reed (Dover, NH) for the shot but again the keeper made the save. In the 28th minute Sophia Whitney (Hampton, NH) had a great throw to Starr who hit a great cross but no one got on the end of it. In the 33rd minute Delaney Foley (York, ME) played a great ball to Zimmermann who blasted one off the crossbar. In the 37th minute Zimmermann hit the crossbar for the second time off a great feed from Starr.
Tied at 0-0 despite a number of quakity chances for the Bulldogs, Berwick was determined to come out strong in the second half. They did not dissapoint with a goal in the 43rd minute when Bella Peracchi (Stratham, NH) hit in a great cross and Phoebe Clark (Byfield, MA) hammered it home for the 1-0 lead. Proctor bounced back with a goal just 3 minutes later with a shot from the top of the 18 off the post and in to make it 1–1. In the 53rd minute Chili Dowd (Amesbury, MA) hit a great corner and Brayden Reed (Dover, NH) headed it home for the 2-1 advantage. But the theme continues and in the 56th minute Proctor got the equalizer off a free kick to make it 2-2. In the 66th minute Aaliyah Farid (Hampton, NH) set up Dowd for what would be the game winner. Dowd tucked it into the bottom left corner of the net. Thankfully Proctor did not continue the trend and the Bulldogs held on for the win, but Proctor never quit and battled hard for the full 80 minutes. Sam Montagno (Exeter, NH) came up with a critical save late in the second half to earn the Bulldogs the win.
The Bulldogs are now 12-2-1 and will travel to Portsmouth Abbey Saturday for an EIL matchup where a win would clinch a home playoff game on 11/9 for the EIL Tournament. Go Bulldogs.
