Alumni Spotlight: Tej Shah '02

Tej Shah '02 recently started Zen Family Dental located in Ashland, Massachusetts.
What is your proudest accomplishment since leaving Berwick?
Being able to earn a degree in a completely different field (Dentistry) than I started out studying (Computer Science). It was a very long journey to get to that spot, but I am happy that I was able to complete it.

How do you feel Berwick prepared you for your professional career?
I think what really helped was having the diversity of the different programs offered at Berwick. This includes programs like athletics, the school plays (which helped in my stage fright), and courses like the Philosophy Seminar with Mr. Fletcher.

What is your fondest memory of your time at Berwick?
The summer trips. I never really went camping before I entered Berwick so that was a very unique experience. I never did white water rafting before that school trip (however, I probably will never do it again.)

What do you do for fun outside of your professional life?
I still play video games and watch anime. I bake a fair amount of junk food and I also work out in an attempt to burn the calories from eating said junk food.

From Assistant Director of Advancement, Elizabeth Elcock, "after meeting with Tej this summer it was clear that because he had a different career path before becoming a dentist, he is able to see dentistry from an outsider's point of view. He is committed to helping the patient help themselves." For more information or to connect with Tej please visit the website https://zenfamily.dental
