Marjorie Thomsen

Marjorie Thomsen's poems are inspired from the landscapes of North Carolina and Virginia where she grew up and from New England where she currently lives. She is the author of "Pretty Things Please" which was nominated for a Pushcart Prize. Marjorie's reading on Thursday evening will be the culmination of a week-long residency at Berwick Academy, where she and Middle School students will engage in the process of reading, writing, and sharing poetry in daily workshops. She will also be sharing her work with the Lower and Upper School students. A focus of her week will be to consider how kindness and empathy are expressed in poetry. Her hope for the evening event is to include any and all students and faculty who would like to read alongside her. As time allows, she will read poems from her collections, "Pretty Things Please" and a few new ones that have recently been published.
