Wrapping up a productive three game home stand, the Bulldogs played host to the visiting Lions from Lexington Christian Academy. Berwick was immediately met by an organized, skillful, and determined side that made things difficult for good stretches of the game. In fact, the first two quality chances came from LCA, showing their prowess on the counter-attack. It was BA, however, who found a bit of fortune, when a foul twenty yards from goal led to a free kick. Justin McLaughlin measured things nicely and calmly hammered an unsavable shot into the top corner, giving Berwick a little bit of breathing room, while netting his first goal of the season. Nii Lokko thought he doubled the lead soon after, banging home a rebound, but following a substantial referee tea party, it was ruled that he was off-sides. With BA continuing to find their stride, and more chances coming their way, captain Lucas Milne capitalized on a feed from fellow senior Leo Beresin and doubled the lead just before half time. With Lexington now having to brave the blinding oblique autumn sunshine, Berwick began to enjoy more chances, nearly all of them managed expertly by their impressive goal keeper. Nearly all of them, for it was center back, MacGregor Caffelle, who went on a mazey run up the sidelines before slotting a pass into striker Amir Makdad who finished the movement with aplomb in front of his parents visiting from over the border. The boys should be proud of their efforts and results over the first month of the season, and they will be afforded a few extra days to nurse the bumps and bruises as they prepare for a trip out to Tilton next Friday night for a game under the lights with their Lakes Region foe.
